Carolyne Haycraft and Shaymaa Taha
Carolyne has over 20 years of experience teaching martial arts and self-defense to adults and children. Prior to becoming the Executive Director for EMERJ-SafeNow, she was the GirlStrength Director for the Portland Police Bureau developing self-defense curriculum for boys, girls and women. She was a co-instructor Safety Zone:Cops Talk, teaching personal safety techniques to adults with developmental disabilities. She is excited to bring EMERJ-SafeNow, an equity based violence prevention organization that promotes healthy lives and and safe communities to Woman Up!
Shaymaa Taha started her martial arts training at the age of 14 and holds a black belt in Shobayashi Shorin-ryu Karate. She is an EMERJ facilitator and since her training has been facilitating workshops, programs and camps for children and teens.
